I am a Louisville native who has quilted for nearly 20 years. I began quilting because it was a practical art form: It could
be both beautiful and useful. The tradition of quilts as a means of comfort and of protection drew me to this format. As my
textile work has evolved, I have moved more to fiber art in general, including silk painting, dyeing, and surface design.
Fiber arts bring together both visual and tactile sensations. I love to run my hand over a piece as I quilt it, feeling the
change in texture as the three layers become one. I like the feel of the silk that I have painted, and consider the tactile
sensation a vital part of the experience that is fiber art. This site will allow me to discuss techniques
I enjoy using, provide links to other sites devoted to fiber art, and provide a gallery of my work.
